The Powerful Wife

“Think twice before you speak, because your words and influence will plant the seed of either success or failure in the mind of another.” – Napoleon Hill

He didn't say it was my fault, he just smile when I said, "So it's my fault lah?"

Monday was not a good morning for me. You woman may know how our mood swings and the hormone changes like s*it when we are on our menstruation period. Man will never understand. Why?

Me: You have to know dear, I'm on my period. So my mood and sensitivity all mixed up.
Mr. Fruitheart: I tried to, but I can't seem to understand. When you're pregnant I know if you are not in good mood, it is because of the baby inside. But now no. Maybe you need to get pregnant again so that I'll understand.
Me: Seriously??

You might want to know what exactly happened huh? OK. I woke up yesterday morning with a VERY BAD cramp and pain on my lower abdomen. Fuhh I tell you, I feel like punching my tummy hard to keep the pain go away. Rasa nak tendang orang pun ada. Plus, baby girl woke up 3 times. I have to get up and feed her. That chubby baby don't want to sleep in her cot and I had to sleep very near the end of our bed. Queen size bed cannot fit 3 people. My back hurts. And I had to rush doing everything from last minute ironing, pack my kids stuff. Oh I'm so.. (Marahnya?). No smiley on my face and I'm quiet.

And when we were at the parking lot, my bag got stucked at the side mirror. I got grumpy. Mr. Fruitheart, yeah he got annoyed and well angry a bit. I know it. He was quiet all the way.

So after 5pm, during walking to the station he let it all out.

Mr. Fruitheart: You know, when I woke up I would love to see my wife's face. When you masam muka, no sweet smile and laugh it affected me. Everyone said, "BOSS NOT IN A GOOD MOOD' today. Everyone got scolded by me.

He added.. "Now do you know how important you are to me?"

Me being very sensitive, CRY!

One thing for sure, marriage has a huge influence. I realised that everyone has this some degree of influence in other people's life. I want to be a wife who always have positive influence. I do not want to be the un-cool and grumpy wife.

P/S: When I'm on my period, it's like I have a devil inside me waiting to come out and do bad stuff. Oh we are OK after that in case you wonder.

Why Is It Hard To "GO WITH THE FLOW"?

Do you know that you have a problem or issue with YOURSELF? I know I have. One issue that I failed to tackle is being PERFECT. I got really emotional and angry when things didn't go my way. It got worse during my red flag. Yes, period. I am easily irritated, sensitive and gosh, I even hate myself for being the EVERYTHING-MUST-BE-DONE mother and wife.

My significant other, well.. I noticed he is more relaxed and seems not to be worry much about house chores. He did helped me. Me on the other hand being the-perfectionist-mom-and-wife, had a little bit of hard time letting go of the responsibility. I do not know when to LET LOOSE and RELAX. I do not know when I need to stop being SO SERIOUS. I must stop to MULTITASK.

When I was with my baby girl, I folded my clothes. While she sits on my lap after bath, I put her down and went to the kitchen and wash the plates. When I told kiddo to hang his towel, I asked him to take out his school bag and make his bed at the same time. Kiddo asked for help with his homework, I sit beside him while checking on my phone. When my hubby is taking care of our baby, I expect him to do the same that I do. Multitask. Why? Because everytime when I want to have my own time, I think about.. Oh I haven't hang my clothes yet. I didn't take out my frozen food. I didn't sweep all my fallen hair in our bedroom. Oh I haven't fill in kiddo's water bottle. I forgot to take out the rubbish. Oh I didn't do this yet, I didn't do that.

It is no fun you know. There are times I hate myself for being ME. Why can't I go with the flow? What if I decided to let my house in a mess? What if their shoes are not in a straight line? What if the table are not clean? What's the worse can happen if I forget to switch off the washer? So what if my pans and pots un-washed and high like KLCC tower in the sink?

There's too many in my head. Too much to remember and do. All I want is a happy home life. I do not want to be stressed out with the responsibility of being a mother and wife.

P/S: Taurus does not start out with the intention of getting stuck. They simply want to get things done, and it's that steady, dogged persistence that winds up being viewed as stubbornness. There keyword is STUBBORN.

Fruitheart Blog Speed Test

I was blogwalking and saw this one entry by a blogger about her blog speed. I happily tried mine using this website iwebtool. I wanted to know hoa fast my blog loads.

0.14 sec! Wohoo! Not more than one 30 sec. It's good if your blog is under 100KB. The lower the better and fast loading.

P/S: I don't like messy blog.

Fruitheart Family at

Fruitheart Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookies

I have this passion for baking since long time ago when we moved into our new house. HEHE. Yes, not that long huh? So Mr. Fruitheart bought me an ELBA microwave oven. Let's try doing it little by little shall we?

So today, early morning when we had breakfast Mr. Fruitheart said let's go and buy stuff to make cookies. Kiddo was the excited one. He loves cookies. And he expected his mother to make cookies like Famous Amos. I have printed the recipe and ingredients.

We went to Sunway Giza, Kota Damansara. There is one shop selling bakery ingredients, cake ornaments, utensils, baking decoration and even baking classes - City Bakers When we entered the shop, it smells nice and like cookies! I can't concentrate what to look for and suddenly get over excited seeing those sprinkles, walnuts, trays and even flour! Gosh. I was like kiddo in Toy's R Us.

Since I do not where to start looking, I asked the sales girl to help me out. I gave her the recipe. She read through it and I told her.. "Akak ni first time nak buat cookies. Boleh tolong cari kan bahan yang macam dalam kertas tu?" She walked to the sugar shelves. And then she told me this, "Kalau saya bagi akak yang dah siap bancuh boleh tak? Cuma perlu tambah butter, telur dan nuts. Itu lagi senang, since akak first time nak cuba buat."

I was like OK, I didn't know there were ready made ingredients. That would be easy I said to myself.

All of the above costs me RM52.

Before I started, I need to cook this walnut for 10-15 mins. While doing that, I mixed all the other ingredients.

500gm chunky chocolate cookie mix
1 egg (Size B)
225gm butter

50gm nuts
100gm chocolate chips

Steps: Combine A until even. (DO not over mix). Fold in B optional items. Preheat oven for 15 mins. Scoop onto lightly greased or lined tray and bake at 160'c for 10-15 mins.

Additional ingredients - a 9 year old kid as helper. HEHE. He was very helpful and in between waiting for the cookies to bake, he ate some of the choc chip. Kids.

It says there 'bake at 160'c for 10-15 minutes. OK I have followed. However, I do not use the 'correct' oven to bake and after 15 minutes, my cookies still not cooked. I added some more time. 30 minutes. Now, that caused the bottom to over cooked. HANGUS! Argh!

Dah lah cookies hitam, hangus lagi HITAM!
I am frustrated. Mr. Fruitheart said, it's OK if I failed for the first time. Let's try to lower down the temperature and bake it a little longer. We do not know how exactly this Elba microwave oven works. OK, I know he's trying to calm me down and motivate me.

Finally, I made it! The last tray turned out well. Hooray! It taste good, smell nice and tender. Chewy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Mr. Fruitheart agree with it. I managed to get only 40 pieces of it. Oh well, that was my first time. I can do better next time, aren't I?

P/S: Well done myself!

Happy 9th Month Old Girl

The long entry just for you Arissa..

Today you turned 9 month old. I carried you in my tummy for 9 month too. Everyone said mama's tummy was huge that time. I looked like a mama bear that walks like a penguin. And you know what? Every night daddy would massage mama's tummy to make the stretch marks go away. Sadly, it's still there. I still have the marks during your big brother's time. Yeah, will stay there for the rest of my life.

At this age baby, you can crawl. You had your first bottom tooth and first upper one coming. You saliva flow like waterfall. You can stand up for a long time. Mama and daddy are truly sorry for the bumps and fall of the bed and walker previously. Our bad baby, our bad. And we had learn from it not to let you fall again. It made us cry seeing you in pain.

I don't know where you learn the way to wake up your daddy. Do you know how you did it? You would crawl towards his face and started scratching his nose and said.. "Ahhh.. ahhh.. ahhhhhhhh". I can't find it in Google translate, so I assume it's "WAKE UP!". I find it cute. Lucky you didn't give him a hard smack on his face. HEHE.

You would also cry and whine and so clingy to your daddy more than me. The wide smile like Joker until your eyes become smaller whenever you saw daddy. I always say this to you, 'macam nampak boyfriend!.'
Next, you are good at bullying your big brother. You pulled his hair, fight over an iPad and you love seeing him getting angry when he was asked to take care of you. You won't stay foot and even scolded him back. "Ahhh.. wehhhh.. uhhhh.." in an angry tone.

You know, he loves you so much. He even cried when you cried non stop whenever he is holding you inside the car while I was driving. You wanted to sit with me on the driver's seat bcause you hate your baby's seat. Do you want the RM2000 Recaro seat baby? If you want, I need to make sure you SIT. Or else, I'll get the 'husband talk' from your daddy. "Expensive. Not practical. Why buy? Other seat cheaper. Bla bla bla."

You really love yourself. First time looking at your own face on the mirror and you started kissing. Your handprints and saliva all over the mirror. And you would just gave me I-am-cute-don't-be-mad-at-me-mama kind of face. Or you would give me no-it-wasn't-me-i'm-not-guilty face.

Grandma Faridah said you walk like a model and she added, "Arissa suka lelaki je, mentang-mentang lah cantik." I smile. She said that because you will be extremely excited when you see grandpa and not her. HEHE. Anyway, she cannot hold you longer because you're chubby and weight 8KG last time we went for a checkup.

There's one time when daddy was playing with his PS3 and gave you his iPad to make you sit still. You looked at him and he was wondering what was wrong. He even asked you why. If only you can talk at 8 months huh? He figured out the iPad screen was locked. So he took it and opened it for you. And you started playing with it. You are such a clever girl. I know you wanted to say, "Gave me iPad but don't want me to play with it."

The cutest thing you did to me was, when I scolded you, you would say "MA" in a slow tone and soften your eyes. Yeah, you gave me those puppy eyes. Although it was not full "MAMA", but I am happy that you said mama first rather than daddy. HEHE. You babies just now how to make us melt don't you? We could die melting because of your adorableness and cuteness you know.

You are talkative and have the sweetest smile. Whenever we eat, you also want to eat. I can still remember how angry you were when daddy took away 'keropok lekor' from your hand. Oh baby, at 8 months old you already ate 'keropok'.

Now you have learned how to give us a kiss. You open your mouth wide and kiss. Sloppy kisses. All your saliva on our face. It's OK baby, we love you too.

I guess I will end my ramblings here baby. Mama got work to do. I am praying hard you and your big brother will be good children to us. Mama and daddy promise to take care both of you and love you two with all our heart. Forever and ever.

P/S: My dear children, you are precious.

Career Test Result

I took this test today via the myStarJobs by theStar. I am not surprised looking at the second result.

The first result is not that correct. And 'tend to handle problems calmly and rationally', hmm.. am I? 50-50, I think. HEHE.

P/S: Taking quiz just for fun.

Electrolux Washer

Finally our new washing machine or washer is here. Why didn't I buy with dryer? Mr. Fruitheart said not that practical and uses a lot of electricity. Hmm.. I was thinking if I wash and use the dryer two or three times a week, would it really affected my electricity bill?

Oh well, we already bought it and used on Sunday. Mr. Fruitheart had some difficulties while installing the hose. The water came out from the pipe. We had no idea what went wrong or do we do it correctly.. Almost two hours he spent fixing it. At last we found out that we didn't do it correctly. We have to push and grip the hose to the pipe. 'CLICK'. There! It worked perfectly. Something new we learned that day. Should they come out with 'HOW TO SET UP WASHER FOR BEGINNER"?

Why Electrolux? The sales person at Best Denki KLCC told us the first brand to introduce this front load washer was Electrolux. Plus, the price is within our budget. So, we bought. I should be reading the review like I usually do, but not this time. Let's hope nothing bad happens after warranty ends.

7kg front load washer, simplified Time Manager, rotary/push button LCD control panel, 1000 RPM spin speed, jetsytem wash system, 4.5 star water rating, 4 star energy rating.

  • Cotton/daily cotton wash program
  • What turns a great cleaning performance into a world-class performance? Often it's the small details. Like finger tip power control. Or electrified direct connect tubes.
  • Synthetics, delicates, wool, hand wash.
  • Rinse, drain and spin.
  • Pre-wash option
  • Simplified time manager wash option
  • Extra rinse wash option
  • Eco wash option
  • Delay start wash option
  • 3-chamber detergent dispenser draw

The ugly side of our kitchen balcony. Small and limited space. We have to be very careful of what we choose to put there. So far the bucket, broom, mop, dustpan and dryer only.

I can't open my window wider now. But the door definitely has to be opened wide. I love the fresh air and cool wind flowing into the house.

P/S: I really appreciate my husband's effort to make our house complete. Thank you dear!

TAWC - Trying for Two Weeks Meals Cycle

Cook for a day, eat for a month or a week or two. You decide.

Having ingredients on-hand is the most important thing. My mistake this week OAWC was I didn't prepare my list prior to buying my groceries. I ended up putting yogurt into my chicken curry. It tasted sour! Argh!

I put it in the freezer and I wanted to put low fat milk. I totally forgot about it when we went out last weekend, twice! During lunch, I went to Mercato and bought coconut milk. I'll put that later when I reached home.

So this week meals:
3 packs of Chicken Curry
3 packs of Spicy Red Chicken
2 packs of Black Pepper Beef
1 pack of Soy Sauce Mackerel (which is too salty)
1 pack of Spicy Yellowtail scad (we already had it on weekend)
2 packs of Spinach.

Yes, it's the same fish recipe like last week. I'm still looking for a fresh new recipe. But you know how the fish price nowadays. Really expensive. I bought two piece of mackerel at Giant for RM7, but at the morning market it's RM14! Squids, crabs and shrimp are too expensive too. Maybe once a month I will ask Mr. Fruitheart to buy. Depends on what they want to have that week.

I have cucumber, so I can switch in between the spinach. The plan is five days meal including Saturday. Wednesday we will buy from the night market. And Sunday we will have an eat out session. Now, let's go and find more frozen recipe. I would like to try out the spaghetti with meatballs, cheesy chicken with broccoli and potato.

P/S: Cooking has never been easy when you have the right ingredients, time and determination.

TAWC - Chicken Vindaloo Recipe

My first time making this recipe and everyone loves it. It tasted a bit like masala. Mr. Fruitheart said it tasted like rendang. Kiddo said, 'Mom, it's delicious. Mama masak sedap lah.' Ahh.. there's nothing beat the joy in my heart than knowing my family loves my cooking.

I took the recipe Chicken Vindaloo from Nestle website. I don't like long and too much ingredients recipe. I am slow, so I don't want it take too much time preparing and cooking. So short and simple is just nice.

500 gm Chicken meat

1 tablespoon Garlic, pounded
1 tablespoon Ginger, pounded
6 tablespoon NESTLÉ Natural Set Yogurt
1 teaspoon MAGGI Concentrated Chicken Stock

1 Tomato, diced
1 Onions, diced
¾ cup Water
 Salt and Pepper, to taste
1 stalk Coriander Leaves
2 sprigs Curry Leaves
2 tablespoon Cooking Oil
2 tablespoon MAGGI Tomato Ketchup
1 sachet MAGGI HARI-HARI FAVOURITES Chicken Curry Paste

Cooking Steps
1. Marinade chicken pieces with ingredients A for several hours or preferably overnight in the refrigerator.
2. Heat oil and fry onion until soft and fragrant.
3. Add curry leaves and MAGGI Chicken Curry Paste; fry until aromatic.
4. Add in marinated chicken, tomato, MAGGI Tomato Ketchup and water. Cook simmer until gravy slightly thick and chicken is cooked and tender.
5. Add seasoning if required. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve with rice or bread.

P/S: When you enjoy cooking, you will cook with all your heart and you want to make every tummy happy and healthy. One thing for sure, YES I CAN COOK.

TAWC - Why Once A Week Cooking

OAWC for short. Since we have moved into our new house end of January, I have to make myself available for cooking. We do have plans previously and set up a budget to buy meals. However, home cooked meal is ALWAYS the best and money saving.

I have never thought of this concept once-a-month-cooking (OAMC) until Mr. Fruitheart told me about it (after talking with my MIL). How does it work? It is a concept where we spend a set of time cooking which at the end of the day we have enough meals to lasts through out the whole month. The meals needs to be freeze until needed.

I have never thought of this idea and concept before. I did froze my baby girl's solid food, and why didn't I ever think of freezing our meals? If I can do a week solids for baby girl, I sure can do the same for our meals, aren't I? There a huge smile on my face.

Since I know I am too slow at cooking, I started for once-a-week-meal first. If you surf the Internet about it, there are several websites that provide OAMC tips and trick. I managed to find one - once a month mom, really helpful.

I did my first trial at my parents house during CNY holidays. I cooked:
Ayam Vandiloo (Chicken Vandiloo)
Daging Masak Kicap (Meat in Soy Sauce)
Ikan Tenggiri Goreng Kicap Pedas (Fried Mackerel in Spicy Soy Sauce)
Carrots and Cauliflower

It took me 4 hours to cook all that which include chopping, washing, removing all those skins and fats and of course a break in between. I can't stand for long now. Getting old huh? Boo hoo hoo.

As a result, I have 3 packs of chicken, 2 packs of meat, 1 pack of fish and 2 packs of veggies meals. Enough to lasts through out the week.

I had to think of a meal where I can use the same ingredients for us the adults and my baby girl. Oh and I had to ask both my boys to eat veggies this time. :D If there is no veggies, I feel somehow my meal not complete.

Alhamdulillah, my family loves it! Looks like a success to me. YAY Fara! *Gave myself a pat on the back*.

As a working mother that only have weekends to do all house chores, I always need to find ways how to make stuff easy for me. I plan to cook once in 2 weeks, so that on the other weekends I can start my yoga. Once I am on the track, maybe I can do yoga 10-15 minutes 2 or 3 days a week. I told myself, if I can plan and organize my stuff at work, why can't I do the same at home?

Dulu duduk rumah mertua boleh lah mengelat masak, sekarang dah duduk rumah sendiri, SEMUA KENA BUAT SENDIRI OII!!

P/S: Stay tuned for my next update on this OAWC and also, my yoga maybe. Let's hope I can start soon.

Solid Foods Made Easy With Baby Bullet

I bought this Magic Baby Bullet Food Processor a month before baby girl turned six moth old. I waited for that three month long to update and give my review about it.

I joined this group in FB, solid foods for babies. One of the member posted about this blender. I was excited to feed my baby that I decided to buy it and yes, to make my life easy.

It comes with two blades. The baby blend blade is for puree and blend. While the milling blade is great for milling grains to make cereals. I haven't tried the milling blade yet. Now at nearly nine month old, baby girl is so loving her porridge. I have tried earlier giving her apple puree, she doesn't like it. Mr. Fruitheart said, maybe it doesn't taste good. But she likes banana, pumpkin and sweet corn puree. As for veggies, she loves carrots. Honestly, I did gave her instant solids. I gave her Heinz. I do feel bad about not giving her mummy-home-made food. I just.. well, I reserved my comments.

One thing I like about the storage cups, it's feature a date dial to show the date you created the food. Since I am easily forgetting things now, it is easy to know which one I should give first. It is sure a huge time saver for a busy mother like me. I only make her solids once a week. It also comes with a book that I find really helpful. It has simple steps and recipes. To me, this baby blender is worth buy and saves my time.

All these stuff is in the box. I took this picture from Marshalya Stall FB page. I bought it from her.

P/S: I didn't have the chance to do all this when it was my kiddo's time. I regret that I didn't take his meals preparation seriously. He is now a bit picky. And slowly, I have started to educate myself and him with healthy food. We can do it!

Favourite Quote of The Week #7

Practical Self Service Laundry

This was my first time trying this self service laundry. Usually I just sent my clothes to the laundry and the lady did it for me, well I mean the machines. Since I was in a hurry that day, so I got to do what I had to do.

Why didn't I use my own washing machine? Well, I don't have one yet. So I had to sent my clothes to MIL's house twice a week. Can you imagine how big piles of clothes I ended up with? Two laundry baskets! When I'm going to buy? Tomorrow. So I can get it by Saturday. Crossing my fingers!

So let's get back to the story. This place Rainbow Laundry is located at PV128 Platinum Mondrian, Jalan Genting Klang, Setapak. It's near the Chatime and Toowoomba. I left the office early that day just to this. There were each three 9KGs and 14KGs washing machine.

They included the price you have to pay to the machine and let you know which type of water to be used - cold, warm. There is also the soap vendor machine in case you didn't bring your own. The detergent and softener costs RM1 each.

Please be informed, all machines there are using the new 50 cents coins. So you have to change it first.

You have to bring your own laundry basket. They did provide, but knowing how some people who likes FREE STUFF, their baskets have been stolen. Bad people!

What's best? They have free WIFI. I have to wait almost for an hour. Each half hour for washing and drying. That should keep me busy online socializing.

Six dryer should be enough looking at the small shop. And there were not too many people during drying time. Mind you, they also had CCTV installed. Good. Safety.

And there after all had done, I am a happy housewife. My clothes were clean and washed and dried at the same time. Just need a lot of folding, which can take up to half hour. Phew! How much do I spent? RM12 for both.

P/S: I was thinking to open a self service laundry near my place. The idea is there..

Hunting for Washer and Dryer

What is the next most important thing you should have in your house? That's right, washing machine. A dryer is not that important, but it will be important when it's rainy season. If you hand your clothes to dry inside the house, it will dry and leave a stinky smell on your clothes. Bau masam!

We've been looking for washing machine since before we were married. Long time planning it seems. We did save money, but oh well, it went into buying something else. So here we go again, hunting for one.

I want something like this.

Electrolux 7.0kg Washer / Dryer Combi
•7.0kg Washing Capacity
•5.0kgDrying Capacity
•1200RPM Spinning Speed
• Condenser Drying System
•Flexible Interactive Program
•Electronic & 1 Control Programmes
•Spin Speed Selection
•Active Balance Control
•Zinc Coated Cabinat
•Anti-Rat Net
•Daly Start Function
•LCD Display & Remaining Time with Time Manager Control
•70 Litres Water Consumption
•Jet Spray Washing Technology
•Product [W x H x D] (mm): 600 x 850 x 630

Same brand and capacity only different is Jet Spray Washing Technology and Magic Ball Washing Technology. Jet Spray is RM27++, while Magic Ball is RM25++. Guess which one I'll choose? Of course the cheaper one.

At first we thought of only to buy washer. As you can see, living in a condo you have limited space to hang your clothes. And when it's raining, much worse. You have to hang inside your house. On the chair, on the dining table, on the window, and even your wardrobe knob! So messy and ugly and disturbing. The problem is.. MONEY, MONEY, MONEY. It doesn't grow on trees.

P/S: I was hoping someone would give us a washer + dryer as a surprise gift. I know one place I can buy this at a slightly cheaper price and it also provide ONLINE purchasing.

It Is Hard To Be A Woman

Is it really tough being a woman in this world? There's so much difference between woman 30 years back and woman of today. A lot of difference don't you agree?

Being a wife, mom, and has a 9-5 job is not an easy task when you need to know how to deal with everything and balance between work and life. There's one time I am actually holding my girl's pacifier and I've been searching for it the whole house. I feel like slapping my face hard. Few times I thought of quiting my job and concentrate on being a full time housewife. Can I do that? What would I do during my free time? What if I get bored?

Ahh.. un-necessary stress and stuff to think. I should just be thankful and enjoy what I have and do right now, isn't it? What more you want?

P/S: I should be more relax and start YOGA!

Friday Snippet #3

One of the important thing needed in a house is - WASHING MACHINE. And because I wanted front-loader type, I have to wait until my next paycheck. In the mean time, have to compile every two days and wash at MIL's house. Baby girl's stroller had been used to carry the laundry basket.

Moving to new house, our money flow like Niagara Waterfalls. So fast! Big stuff that we need to buy is washing machine. All those small stuff when you compile, it sure uses a lot of money. I was hoping there is another round of bonus. HEHE. Yeah, I can dream can I? :(

Today is the 1st of February. Even though it's Federal Territory day, I'm working. What else is new? I've been doing that like more than thirteen years now. I should find another job, a job that I can enjoy Malaysia's public holiday. No more supporting foreign countries. Penat lah! I don't enjoy and like it anymore.

P/S: Woke up at 5 and sleep only at 10pm. Dear body, please don't get sick.
